AI Meets Flood Risk Management – Students Develop Practical Solutions for TNL Umwelt

We had the pleasure of participating in the final presentation event of the FIT Project at Hof University of Applied Sciences as part of the Master's course “Risk Management in the Water Sector.” Over a period of four months, we collaborated with international students on a real-world challenge. The objective was to explore innovative ways in which artificial intelligence can enhance the efficiency of engineering workflows.

Our project, “AI-Assisted Plan Mining for Flood Risk and Heavy Rainfall Preparedness,” focused on a practical question:

How can AI support the analysis of existing documents and planning records related to flood risk and heavy rainfall preparedness?

The students’ task was to develop a powerful prompt capable of automatically analyzing extensive planning and inventory documents and extracting relevant information in a structured manner for flood and heavy rainfall risk management. This approach has the potential to significantly reduce time-consuming research efforts and support more efficient planning processes.
