TNL Group sets the course for its next growth phase
The TNL Group, one of the leading specialists in environmental planning, permitting consultancy and construction supervision for energy and transport infrastructure, is entering the next phase of its corporate development. As part of a succession solution, the fund DBAG ECF IV, advised by Deutsche Beteiligungs AG (DBAG), will become the majority shareholder of the Group. Completion of the transaction remains subject to regulatory approval.
Founder and Co‑Managing Director Frank Bernshausen, together with the other members of the management team – Anton Kohl, Julia Krimkowski and Dr. Florian Schneider – will continue in their roles and remain shareholders, actively shaping the company’s future growth trajectory.
Since its founding in 1994, TNL has evolved from a regional environmental consultancy into a nationwide partner for complex infrastructure projects. Today, the company supports projects across the entire value chain – from ecological preliminary assessments and permitting procedures to construction supervision and implementation. Its references include major projects of the energy transition and grid expansion, such as SuedLink, SuedOstLink and Rhein‑Main‑Link.
With around 250 employees across four locations, TNL offers extensive expertise in complex environmental and technical matters and has been a long‑standing partner to Germany’s transmission system operators.
Together with the new majority shareholder, TNL aims to continue its successful growth path. Planned initiatives include investments in organizational development, digitalization and employee development. In addition, the company intends to strengthen its market presence in selected segments and evaluate further growth opportunities through strategic acquisitions.
Frank Bernshausen, Founder and Co‑Managing Director of the TNL Group, explains: “Over the past 30 years, we have built a strong market position together with our team and contributed to some of Germany’s most significant infrastructure projects. With DBAG, we have found a partner who shares our values and supports our long‑term development. Together, we aim to shape the next phase of growth and further strengthen our role as a reliable partner for the energy transition, infrastructure expansion and sustainable spatial development.”
